The kitchen is the most technically complex room in your home. It has to work as plumbing infrastructure, electrical distribution point, storage system, cooking workspace, and social hub — all at once. A kitchen that is poorly designed will frustrate you every single day. A kitchen that is well designed becomes the room you do not want to leave.

At Vaastushilp, we design and manufacture modular kitchens across Delhi NCR. Over 12 years, we have fitted hundreds of kitchens in apartments, villas, and homes of every size — from a 35 sq ft galley in a compact DDA flat to a full 200 sq ft island kitchen in a South Delhi villa.

What is a modular kitchen?

A modular kitchen is built from factory-manufactured cabinets (called modules) that are customised to your kitchen's dimensions and assembled on-site. Unlike carpenter-built kitchens made entirely on-site, modular kitchens offer more consistent quality (factory tolerances are tighter than site carpentry), faster installation (2–4 days vs 3–6 weeks), and easier replacement of individual components if something wears out.

Kitchen layouts we design

• Straight / single-wall — the most space-efficient layout for narrow kitchens
• Parallel / double-galley — two runs of cabinets facing each other, ideal for kitchens with a cook and a helper working simultaneously
• L-shaped — the most popular layout in Delhi apartments; uses a corner efficiently and separates prep from cooking
• U-shaped — three walls of cabinets; maximum storage and counter space, ideal for larger kitchens
• Island kitchen — an additional standalone counter in the centre, combining prep space with casual seating; requires adequate floor area (minimum 10–12 ft in one direction)

Materials and components

Carcass (cabinet box)

The carcass is the structural box of each module. We use BWP (Boiling Water Proof) or BWR (Boiling Water Resistant) marine ply for carcasses — not HDF board or regular plywood. This matters in a kitchen where moisture, steam, and occasional water spillage are daily realities. Cheaper carcasses swell and delaminate within 3–5 years.

Shutters (cabinet doors)

The shutter is what you see and touch every day. We offer:

• Acrylic shutters — high-gloss, scratch-resistant, easy to clean; popular in contemporary homes
• Membrane / PVC shutters — matte or satin finish, good moisture resistance, economical
• Laminate shutters — widest choice of textures and finishes; durable and mid-range cost
• Glass shutters — used selectively for display sections or upper cabinets to add visual openness

Hardware

We use branded hardware from Hettich, Hafele, and Blum for hinges, drawer channels, and lift-up mechanisms. Quality hardware is what makes a kitchen feel solid — the soft-close drawer, the full-extension channel that does not bind, the hinge that holds its angle after ten years. Cheap hardware is false economy in a room that gets used 3–4 times daily.

Countertop

The countertop takes the most abuse of any kitchen surface. We work with quartz (engineered stone) as our primary recommendation — it is non-porous, heat-resistant, scratch-resistant, and available in a wide range of finishes. Granite is a classic, durable option. Compact laminates are economical and surprisingly hard-wearing. We advise against marble as a primary kitchen counter (beautiful, but porous and staining).

Our modular kitchen design process

Site measurement and brief

We visit your home and take precise measurements of the kitchen, noting window positions, door swings, existing plumbing and gas points, and chimney flue direction. We discuss your cooking habits, storage needs, and aesthetic preferences.

3D kitchen design

We produce a detailed 3D rendering of your kitchen — showing every cabinet, the countertop, appliances, tile backsplash, and lighting. You can see exactly what it will look like before a single module is manufactured.

Manufacturing and quality check

Modules are manufactured in our partner factory under controlled conditions. Every carcass is checked for squareness and edge banding before leaving the factory.

Site preparation and installation

We coordinate civil prep — waterproofing, tile laying, electrical points, plumbing — before kitchen installation begins. Installation typically takes 2–4 days. We do not rush this stage.

Appliance integration and handover

We integrate your chimney, hob, oven, and dishwasher with the kitchen design, including dedicated electrical circuits. Final handover includes a walkthrough of every mechanism in your new kitchen.

What does a modular kitchen cost in Delhi?

A basic modular kitchen (laminate shutters, standard hardware, granite countertop) for a Delhi 2BHK typically runs ₹1.5–2.5 lakh. A mid-range kitchen (acrylic shutters, branded hardware, quartz counter) runs ₹2.5–4.5 lakh.
